My name is Aman Eyasu.
I Graduated from Monsignor Scanlan High School in 2008.
I was a winner of the New York Times Scholarship in 2008.
I graduated from Columbia University in 2013 with a BS in Civil Engineering.
I have 11 years of professional experience, including 7 years of experience in test prepping.
I have taught SAT classes at over 50 New York City High Schools and have taught over 200 one-on-one clients.
I have completed extensive training to understanding the New DSAT format, question types, and strategies.
Most tutors are bright people. However, what most learners benefit from isn't just access to a "smart person." A data driven, detail oriented educator can optimize time to most effectively drive test scores up. I will not only teach your child (or you!) how to master the content but also how to leverage techniques (like Desmos for the math section) to answer questions more quickly and accurately.
What is it that separates me from the rest?
1) Deep Expertise: I know the entire test
2 )Patience: Different students grasp things in different ways and speeds.
3) Communication Skills: Not just in how I express myself but, more importantly, how well I listen to my students.
4) Empathy and Understanding: Recognizing students' perspectives and understanding their struggles builds trust.
5) Adaptability: Not taking a single approach to teaching, but meeting students where they are and delivering instruction accordingly.
6) Encouragement and Motivation: Providing positive reinforcement. The SAT is hard, and kids should be reminded when they're doing well!
7) Organization and Planning: I personally develop curriculum and lesson plans, tracking progress and setting goals along the way.
8) Creativity: Finding ways to describe difficult concepts or making seemingly boring topics enjoyable are my specialty!
9) Professionalism: Punctuality, respectability, and positivity are imperative!
10) Continuous Learning: I have stayed up to date, having undergone over 100 hours of training on the new Digital SAT.
